This monthly magazine is dedicated to Britain’s railway scene in the years of everyday steam activity. Each issue features all the Big Four railways – LMS, LNER, GWR and SR – or as their BR regional successors, includes some Scottish interest and there is occasional industrial and light railway coverage too. Well illustrated, articles can cover railways from the earliest days but generally lean towards the British Railways era, 1948 to the end of BR steam in August 1968, the varied mix of features including locomotives, reminiscences, engine sheds, operations, infrastructure, rolling stock, and there is always an all colour feature.
